Dear Fellow Members,
I wanted to give you a quick update of the happenings at Kernwood since our annual meeting in December.
We have continued to improve our golf course and follow the recommendations of our golf course architect, Robert McNeil, and the USGA. We are in the process of removing a number of trees that have impacted the health and playability of our golf course. The removal of many of these trees will have a long term benefit of allowing more sun and wind onto the golf course to help with the overall condition of the golf course. This work, has been led by our Greens Superintendent John Eggleston and our Green Committee, led by our chairperson Frank Cole, and they have done a wonderful job in managing this project. We know that you will be excited to see these improvements. I would encourage you when the weather gets a little warmer to walk around the golf course to see what has been done. The views from most of the course are incredible as you will be able to see water on almost every hole on the golf course.
The grille room renovation is well under way and we are anticipating having this area of the club ready for of your enjoyment for the start of the season. Our goal is to have our grand opening of April 8th and 9th which will coincide with the 2017 Masters Golf tournament.
We have selected two different companies to help us with this project. Damiana Project and Design of Rowley, MA is responsible for the design and project management and Vermont Islands, from Brattleboro, Vermont, was selected to build the new 14 seat bar. Our number one priority is to bring this project to you on time and on budget! In addition, the grille room will be repainted and a new flooring will be installed in the front part of the grille room. The room will be much brighter and will be a place for all of our members to socialize and enjoy.
Our Budget and Finance Committee has recommended that we not bill our membership for the grille room renovation until the project has been completed, so we wanted to pass that information along to you as well.
We hope you are having a nice winter and hope to see you all back at Kernwood very soon.
Thank you for being a member of Kernwood.
Let go Patriots!
